Crystalline Systems

Polycrystalline Silicon PV

Polycrystalline silicon panels have efficiency an of approx. 11%-14%, they are more efficient in low light level conditions.  

These panels are made up of lots of individual PV cells that have metal conducting materials applied to the sides that will help excite the electrons and also connect the cells together.

Polycrystalline silicon panels are the most economical solar panels to produce so they are usually the best value for consumers to buy. 

They have a blue appearance is due to the application of an anti-reflective layer.


Monocrystalline Silicon PV

Monocrystalline silicon solar panels have an efficiency of approx. 14% to 17%. These panels are made from one continuous sheet of silicon that has pieces of metal applied to the edges to increase the conductivity and to excite the electrons.   They have a black appearance.

Monocrystalline panels are more efficient in sunlight than low light conditions, but they also require more energy to produce than Polycrystalline.


Hybrid PV

Hybrid PV is made of a thin mono crystalline silicon wafer surrounded by ultra-thin amorphous silicone layers.  The combination of two types of technology gives the Hybrid PV an outstanding efficiency 19% +, but these are the most expensive PV panels.

These give a higher kWh output compared to Poly or Mono Crystalline.

These panels are also smaller in size compared to Poly or Mono Crystalline, but give the same or better power output.
